Background

Deirdre works as Research Officer with Economic Development Office with Dublin City Council. She has worked in global justice education for more than ten years in education and awareness-raising roles. She holds a Master's in Economics for Transition, which explored alternatives to the current economic system, and is particularly interested in how communities can build fairer, more sustainable local food systems. Outside her professional work she is a keen grower of her own food.

Deirdre is drawn to work that connects global questions of justice with practical, local action. She believes lasting change starts close to home, in soil, food and community, and that learning together is how people imagine and build alternatives to systems that no longer serve them.
