Learn to ferment your food! Harvest from the garden, taste Bia Cultures ferments, make your own jar, and enjoy a seasonal lunch.

Join us for a hands-on introduction to the wonderful world of fermentation and learn how to make delicious, gut-friendly fermented foods at home.

In this immersive workshop, you'll discover the science and traditions behind fermentation, explore the health benefits of fermented foods, and gain the confidence to start fermenting your own seasonal vegetables.

What to Expect

Presentation: How and Why We Ferment
Learn the principles of fermentation, its role in preserving food, supporting gut health, and enhancing flavour.

Taste Bia Cultures Ferments
Sample a selection of Bia Cultures fermented products and experience the diversity of flavours that fermentation can create.

Harvest from the Síolta Chroí Gardens
Take a guided walk through the gardens to harvest fresh seasonal vegetables and herbs that will be used during the workshop.

Fermentation Demonstration
Watch a step-by-step demonstration of vegetable fermentation, including tips for success, troubleshooting, and food safety.

Make Your Own Ferment
Create your own jar of fermented vegetables to take home and continue the fermentation journey in your own kitchen.

Fermented Lunch

After the workshop, we'll gather to enjoy a delicious seasonal lunch featuring a variety of fermented foods. The menu will showcase creative ways to incorporate ferments into everyday meals and may include dishes such as:

  • Rice paper spring rolls with sauerkraut
  • Focaccia with kimchi and Parmesan
  • Kimbap with seasonal vegetables
