To deepen the awareness across farms in Ireland of the skills and rationale behind seed saving and seed sovereignty.

We are hosting this webinar on Farm Scale Seed Saving to deepen the awareness across farms in Ireland of the skills and rationale behind why seed saving at-scale is important within the bigger conversation on seed sovereignty.

Following on from conversations earlier in the year, learning from farmers in Kenya who challenged their constitution which made it illegal to save and exchange seed, we will look at the context in Europe and the current conditions to set the scene for why now is a moment to be developing resilient seed networks within and across farms locally.

We will hear from Thomas O'Connor, Manna Organic Farm and a member of the Talamh Beo Seed Sovereignty group who will share knowledge as well as set the scene for why this issue is so important. He will also give updates from the Seed Sovereignty group within Talamh Beo for a national approach on this issue. We will also hear from voices in the field on practical ways that seed is saved on the farm, leaving people with some skills and ideas for saving seed at scale.
