A 6 week course introducing the key concepts of regenerative agriculture: Direct Selling, Soil Health, Holistic Grazing, & Agro-forestry.

The objectives of the course are to cultivate the knowledge, skills and motivation for farmers to begin first steps in transitioning into regenerative agriculture practices


Learning Objectives

Week 1 - Introduction to Regen Ag

  • To understand what is Regenerative Agriculture
  • To hear from who is in the room and their various contexts
  • To begin to look at things from a different (holistic) perspective

Week 2 - Soil Health

  • To understand the biological, chemical and physical processes and properties of soil
  • To begin to understand the complexity of the soil food web and the 6:3:4 ratio
  • To apply learning to current contexts by exploring regenerative approaches to soil management
  • To get to know soil as a living organism
  • To increase curiosity of soil in learners’ own contexts
  • To understand implications of chemical and mechanical processes and benefits of more biological and regenerative approaches to soil management

Week 3 - Livestock Management

  • Understand the basics of grazing and use of livestock in regenerative agriculture
  • Introducing Ecosystem Restoration and the interaction of animals within the ecosystems
  • Relating wider ecosystem processes to regenerative agriculture

Week 4 - Agro-forestry

  • Understand what is agroforestry
  • Know the benefits of trees on the land for wider ecosystem benefits including livestock
  • Knowing about grants and other practical considerations for getting trees on the land

Week 5 - Direct Selling

  • Understand the pros and cons of a variety of avenues to direct selling produce
  • Cultivating trust and bringing back a connection to the food we eat through short supply chains
  • Addressing finance, our values and quality of life on our farms

Week 6 - Bringing it all together

  • Reviewing content, evaluating and gathering feedback on the course content
  • Identifying next steps including the easy wins and longer term goals and an implementation plan
  • Signposting, networking and exploring how we stay together
